Calculating the Risks

Would you fight and work for something if you thought you wouldn't win?

I highly recommend this latest post from the Livesay Tribe - missionaries in Haiti. It has a great song by Sara Groves too.

"The concept of fighting ONLY when you think you can win is one of the things that strikes us --- if everyone only did what seemed like a probable win ... well, that would rule out a whole heck of a lot of things -- it is worth losing over and over again because sometime in some small way there will be victory ---and even if the victories are few and far between ... it is worth it."

it's like trusting in the Lord when you can't see the finish line. or if there is one.
i don't know how to answer your question.
it's not easy.

yes. however, still fight to win. there's no reason to fight for something or work to accomplish something without the intent of "winning". you may work to accomplish something, and fail time after time. but someone may come behind you and succeed. i'd say you've "won". i'm reminded of the movie "300"...though i don't remember exactly how it went... the leader went into a battle knowing he would lose, knowing he would die, but in hopes that his men that fought after him would have a better chance of winning. and sometimes that what it takes. but if you believe in something, continue to work for it and fight for it...even if it seems like you are hopelessly losing. another example, william wilberforce. he fought to end the slave trade in great britian. he brought the bill before parliament, he lost and he lost and he lost. but each time he fought and lost, he changed a few minds. even with his loses, he was changing things. and eventually, he won.

yes, fight even though you think you will lose...but do everything you can to win.
